Preserves

Wildlife preserves are areas set aside for the benefit of native wildlife species. They differ from other conservation board areas in that certain human activities are restricted or prohibited for the benefit of wildlife. Hunting on preserves is not permitted.

Beaman Arboretum

Location: 33235 King Ave
This is a 5-acre nature area on the east edge of Beaman, adjoining the school's ballfield. Planted in the 1930's, the wide variety of trees make for a lovely canopy over the hiking trails located there. This is a day use area and hunting is not permitted.

Copley-Strohbehn Preserve

Location: 25450 U Ave
This 12-acre wildlife area was a gift to the residents of Grundy County and is managed as a wildlife preserve. For this reason, no hunting or fishing is permitted. To benefit wildlife, extensive tree and shrub plantings have been developed on the area.

Wolfe Family Preserve

Location: 24511 Diagonal Road
This 19-acre tract of native bur oak trees was a gift to the residents of Grundy County. The Pioneer Trail winds through this area and past a man-made wetland. Mowed hiking trails have been developed to enhance visitor enjoyment of the area. This a day use area and hunting is not permitted.
