The Grundy County Conservation Board manages several areas for public hunting. These areas are restricted hunting which means that hunting is restricted to certain species of game. Hunting of wild turkey is prohibited. Bowhunting for whitetail deer is allowed by permit only. Likewise, those areas open to trapping of furbearers are by permit only. Southfork Wildlife AreaNamed for the southfork of the Beaver Creek that meanders across the area, this 42-acre wildlife area is open to hunting for game under the state’s hunting seasons and limit EXCEPT for deer. Hunting of whitetail deer is by bowhunting permit only that is issued by the Conservation Board. Contact the Conservation Board office at (319)345-2688 for details. The area is a mix of grassland with natural and man made wetlands scattered throughout. |

Holland MarshThis 46-acre wildlife area is open to small game & waterfowl hunting. Hunting of whitetail deer is by bowhunting permit only that is issued by the Conservation Board. The Holland Marsh was a gift to Grundy County through funds contributed by Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and private individuals and organizations. Largely a grassland area, it also contains several wetlands and small winter cover plantings. |
